Quick answers about eSIMs, plans and getting connected in the UK.
An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of a plastic card, you install a profile by scanning a QR code. Once it is installed, your QuickSIM plan connects to a UK network and gives you data, with no shop visit and no waiting for post.
Your phone needs to support eSIM and be unlocked to any network. Most phones released since 2018 do, including iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, plus recent models from Honor, Motorola, OnePlus and Xiaomi.
You can search your exact model in our eSIM compatibility checker before you buy.
After payment we email you a QR code and step-by-step instructions, usually within minutes. To install it:
- iPhone: Settings › Mobile Data › Add eSIM › Use QR Code
- Android: Settings › Network & internet › SIMs › Add eSIM
You can install the eSIM before you travel. Your plan starts when it first connects to a UK network, so it will not burn down while you are still at home.
Your validity period begins the moment the eSIM first connects to a UK network, or on the start date shown on your plan. Data lasts until the end of that period. Unused data does not roll over and cannot be refunded, so a 7-day plan used on day one still ends on day seven.
Yes. An eSIM sits alongside your physical SIM, so your usual number stays active for calls and messages on your home network. Just make sure your mobile data is set to use the QuickSIM line, and turn off data roaming on your home SIM to avoid charges from your own provider.
QuickSIM plans are data-only. There is no UK phone number, so traditional calls and SMS are not included. You can still make calls and send messages over apps that use the internet, such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, Teams and Zoom. Data-based apps are all you need for most trips.
Yes, personal hotspot and tethering work with our plans, so you can share your connection with a laptop or a travel companion. Bear in mind that sharing uses your data allowance faster.
You connect to UK partner networks with 4G and 5G where available. Speeds depend on your location, the network, your device and how busy the area is. Coverage is generally strong in cities and towns, and can be weaker in remote countryside, inside thick-walled buildings, or underground.
Your data stops and speeds may be restricted, but nothing else changes. Your phone stays connected for calls and messages on your own SIM. Plans are single-use, so when you need more data simply buy a new plan from our shop and install the replacement eSIM.
An eSIM profile is tied to the device it is first installed on and cannot be transferred to a different phone. Once a plan has finished you can delete the eSIM, but you will need a new plan (and a new eSIM) for your next trip.
Get in touch as soon as you can through the live chat or at support@quicksim.world and we will do our best to reissue your eSIM. If it has not been activated yet we can normally replace it; if you have already used part of the plan, we will help where we can.
Work through these in order. Most connection problems are one of these settings:
- Turn the QuickSIM line on and make sure it is selected for mobile data
- Turn data roaming on for the QuickSIM line
- Restart your phone, then toggle airplane mode on and off
- Check the eSIM is not still marked as “activating” in your settings
- Set the network selection to automatic
If you are still stuck, open the live chat and we will look at it with you.
If your eSIM never arrives, is faulty, or cannot be made to work after reasonable help from our team, we will replace it or refund you in full. Because eSIMs are digital content supplied straight away, we cannot refund a plan once it has been issued and activated, or refund unused data on an expired plan. Our terms and conditions set this out in full.
Tap the live chat button at the bottom of any page, or email support@quicksim.world. If you are already a customer, it helps to include your order number (it starts with QE-) so we can find your plan quickly.
Looking for the small print? Read our Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. In short: we never sell your information.
